Position: Project Manager – Substations (Electrical Transmission)
Location: Nationwide projects (initial focus on South West / South Wales)
Project: National Grid Electrical Transmission – Substation M&E Frameworks
Hours: Day shifts
Duration: 6 months min.
Salary or Pay Rate: £900 per shift


Requirements:

  • Proven experience delivering National Grid substation build projects

  • Strong working knowledge of NG SRs, Rules, EPC and M&E frameworks

  • Demonstrable experience managing Design & Build schemes

  • Commercially astute with solid NEC contract experience

  • Strong leadership capability across multi-disciplinary teams

  • Excellent stakeholder management with clients, designers, and supply chain

  • Robust understanding of HSWA, CDM, EAWR and associated regulations


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the end-to-end delivery of a portfolio of M&E substation projects

  • Provide strategic leadership on health, safety and environmental performance

  • Ensure projects are delivered to agreed time, cost and quality

  • Work closely with planning teams to manage programmes and progress

  • Drive a cohesive project team ethos across construction, commercial and design

  • Proactively manage project risk and opportunity

  • Provide technical and contractual leadership to resolve issues efficiently

  • Support tender submissions and contribute industry expertise to bids

  • Prepare and support monthly CVRs alongside the Commercial Manager


Qualifications and Experience:

  • Qualification in Construction, Engineering or Project Management (or equivalent experience)

  • Project Management qualification (APM, PMP or similar)

  • Strong track record of delivering projects within budget and programme

  • Experience using recognised Project Management software

  • History of leading teams across all project life-cycle stages
