General Foreman

Project: Steel Structure Bridge Restoration
Hours: 07:30 – 17:30
Duration: 18 months
Salary or Pay Rate: Up to £60,000 per annum
We are recruiting on behalf of a leading civil engineering contractor for an experienced Foreman to oversee works on a Grade II listed steel structure bridge/pier in Southport. The project forms part of the restoration of the country’s second longest pier, which has been out of use since December 2022.
This is a specialist role requiring strong experience in steel structures, ideally within a heritage or listed structure environment.
Key Responsibilities

Day-to-day supervision of site activities and workforce

Ensure works are delivered safely, on programme, and to specification

Liaise with engineers, designers, and survey teams

Implement and monitor RAMS and site safety procedures

Maintain high standards of workmanship on steel structures

Manage works in line with listed structure requirements
Requirements

SSSTS (essential)
-
Proven experience as a Foreman on steel structure projects

Background working on bridges, piers, or complex steel frameworks

Experience on listed or heritage projects (desirable)

Strong leadership and communication skills

Excellent understanding of health & safety standards
